How close to the pavement of bus stop the driver of the bus or trolleybus shall stop?

At the bus stops, the driver shall stop no further than 30–35 cm from the edge of the pavement to allow the passengers safely and comfortably board or get off. If there is no pavement the driver shall stop at the roadside in accordance to the requirements of Traffic rules.

However, the driver cannot always stop at such distance. Sometimes it happens the other vehicle is already standing at the bus stop and the trolleybus or bus does not fit to dedicated entrance.

In addition, there are bus stops with very high pavement kerbs and the bus or trolleybus (especially low-floor) may obstruct the pavement and damage the vehicle with a part protruding far from front axle (around 2 meters) during its manoeuvres.
